Primecut Bags

Custom E-Commerce Website
*Concept for an existing brand

Primecut handcrafts premium leather bags from their workshop in Portland, OR. This slow fashion brand uses sustainable materials to create colorful bags that look and feel like wearable works of art. In reimagining Primecut’s website, I combined clean, minimal design with bold, playful elements to create a fresh, fun shopping experience.

The Homepage

The homepage features a modular, gridded hero section inspired by Primecut's iconic patchwork bags. A photo of quilted shearling pieces nods to the brand’s handmade process while a swatch of natural texture and a cute pup set a playful vibe. There are multiple shopping pathways, including a featured-products carousel, a browse-by-color option, and a collection spotlight, complete with social proof and styling inspo.

Collection Page

I designed a simple collection page that can be repurposed to showcase products by category, whether for celebrating a new launch, highlighting a seasonal color, etc. The hero section offers space for written and visual storytelling, and a carousel of user-generated content shows the bags in the wild.

Product Page

The above-the-fold portion of the product page includes a short description followed by accordions, which cleanly tuck away more brass tacks details. The quantity and variant fields, along with the add-to-cart button, have been customized to match the pill-shaped buttons found throughout the site. Below the fold, a carousel of UGC offers style inspiration and recommended products help shoppers find their dream bag.

Mobile Optimization

Most online shopping happens on phones. A smooth mobile experience is critical for reducing bounce rates and increasing conversions. Every page has been optimized for mobile, including a custom mobile menu with a fun pop of color.

Colorful Hover Effects

Primecut’s bags are fun, often technicolor, works of art. In an effort to weave this same sense of playfulness into the website, I created custom hover effects in the main nav and footer links, as well as fun color changes for individual buttons throughout the website.

Info + Customer Support Pages

The About page details the brand’s story, values, process, and materials. An FAQ page serves as the main hub for customer support, including shipping policies and care instructions, to minimize incoming support emails. A tidy Stockists page lists stores by state, and a Visit Us page contains info about Primecut’s brick-and-mortar shop.
